Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of 
Health-Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) on 8 February 2024. You requested:  
 
“- I request confirmation that Treasury has been advised of errors in the budget bid. 
- I request confirmation that the current Minister, Dr Shane Reti, has been advised of 
errors in the budget bid.” 
The Ministry has assumed your request relates to your previous requests in February 
ref:H2023019669 and April ref:H2023019882 in 2023 that referred to errors made in the Budget 
Bid from 2022 on improving access to primary health care services for transgender people. 
As indicated in the previous responses to your information requests, we regret the two errors 
made in the Budget bid and thank you for bringing these to our attention. One error related to 
the number of transgender women and transgender men in New Zealand and the other error 
related to studies cited that did not make specific claims about the potential to reduce the need 
for future genital surgeries. Both of these errors did not have any bearing on the intent of Budget 
bid and the modelling was based on correct numbers.  
The Treasury has been made aware of the error in the budget bid. Hon Dr Shane Reti has not 
been advised by the Ministry; however, the former Minister of Health, Dr Ayesha Verrall was 
informed, as the Minister previously responsible.
