Thank  you  for  your  email  of  30  January  2024  requesting  the  following  under  the  Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
I request to know how much plastic waste is produced annually by the agriculture 
sector (in tonnes) for the year 2023 or 2022. I request that this be categorized into 
items such as containers, bale net, bale wrap etcetera and how much waste (in 
tonnes) they contribute annually to the total amount.  
The information you request is not collected by any government agency or reported on by the 
agricultural sector. Accordingly, I must refuse your request under section 18(d) of the Act as 
the information requested is not held and it is not considered likely to be held by another official 
or agency.  
Agrecovery  has  conducted  a  Farm  Plastics  Project  which  seeks  to  develop  a  product 
stewardship scheme for the collection and treatment of farm plastics. You may be interested
