Official Information request – Karepa Wall and Treaty of Waitangi Display at Te Papa 
 
Thank you for your request made under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings 
Act 1987 (the Act), received on 30 January 2024.  You requested the fol owing information: 
•  “… the salary amount of Karepa Wall, Tātai Heke Māori/Chief Māori Officer. 
 
•  … all communications if any between Karepa Wall and Te Papa Museum or its 
representatives between December 2023 and January 30th concerning the English Te Tiriti 
display panel or anything at al  to do with the Treaty of Waitangi.” 
 
Wel ington City Council is withholding all information about the salary paid to Karepa Wall, under 
section 7(2)(a) of the Act.  Al  personnel details, including conditions of employment, are 
confidential to the employer and employee, and so are withheld to protect the privacy of the 
individuals concerned. 
 
Wel ington City Council has refused your request for information about communications between 
Karepa Wal  and Te Papa officers and representatives, under section 17(e) of the Act, as there have 
been no communications between these parties. 
 
Right of review 
If you are not satisfied with the Council’s response, you may request the Office of the Ombudsman 
to investigate the Council’s decision. Further information is available on the Ombudsman website,
