RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisor / Manager
• Is responsible for ensuring that all staff are appropriately trained prior to
commencing this work. This includes the operation of any machinery being
used.
• Is responsible for ensuring job is completed correctly.
Operators
• Are responsible for ensuring that all Health and Safety procedures are
fol owed.
• Are responsible for ensuring this SOP is followed correctly so the desired
outcomes are achieved.
• Are responsible for maintaining a clean and safe worksite.

PROCEDURE
PPE • High Visibility Overalls
• Safety Boots
• Gumboots
• Respirator – Check canister expiry date
• Nitrile Gloves

Equipment
• Appropriate spraying equipment – boom sprayer, knapsack, spray truck, batter
powered spray tank.
• Chemical
• Decanting equipment
Pre Start
1. Determine location of task
2. Completion date (if supplied)
3. Decontamination if required
4. Ensure operation will be carried out under the supervision of a qualified
SpraySafe Operator.
Spray Truck Set-Up
1. Start task on NextService App
2. Fill in Hazard Assessment on iAuditor before handling any concentrated
chemical
3. Identify vegetation to spray
4. Check weather forecast and Wind Speed Guide*
5. Ensure all equipment is in good order and operational before filling tank
6. Wear safety equipment when you are fil ing up tank
7. Always check you are using the appropriate chemical for the task
8. Always check the application rates on the chemical label
9. Read safety precautions on chemical labels before pouring concentrate
• Mix as per instructions
• Use the measuring cups supplied
• Only mix enough spray required to complete the job
• Use clean water only
• Use white spray hose at wash bay only
• Complete stock out register from Chemical Store
• Triple rinse containers in wash bay and puncture empty containers
before storing in cage by Chemical Shed
10. Clear wash bay of any spillage
11. Current SDS for chemicals used are stored in vehicle

12. In the case of a spill in the Chemical Store, apply zeolite provided, to
absorb chemical, clean up and place contaminated material in bin provided
13. When the bin is full, dispose of spill in a plastic rubbish bag and dispose at
landfill, wash bin at the wash bay
14. Use eye wash or shower unit for spillage’s on yourself
15. Any chemical that is de-cantered into smaller bottles must have the
chemical label on the bottle
16. Wind Speed Guide is located in the `Spray Applicators Report’ on iAuditor.
When wind speed is entered, instructions are displayed on the suitability
of spraying.
A hand-held anemometer is used to measure wind speed,
something we are looking at obtaining
On Site Set up
1. Complete Hazard Assessment in iAuditor
2. Install public notification spray signage informing of chemicals used and
re-entry time, at entry points to site
3. Ensure public not in area
4. Carry out spray operation
Working Operation
1. Monitor wind conditions
2. Monitor weather conditions
3. Spray target vegetation only
4. Check public are clear of spray area at all times
5. Ensure SLA specifications are maintained
6. 100mm wide spray band around obstacles, post and rail fences and
footpaths
7. 200mm wide spray band around trees and boundary fences
8. Spray operator’s initiative required regarding corners, large trees and any
irregular obstacles
9. Refer to SOP for Spraytruck and Knapsack Sprayer
Hazards:
i.Spil s must be cleaned up immediately
ii.Immediately report all spills to your Supervisor and enter into Vault
as an incident
Job Completed
1. Remove spray signs after re-entry time
2. Enter hours onto task in NextService and complete `Actions Taken’ box
3. Complete `Spray Applicators Report’ in iAuditor including Reserves checklist
4. Complete Reserves checklist paper form if not using iAuditor
5. Wash truck/clothing if possible contamination has occurred
6. Place respirator filters in airtight container when not in use
7. Make sure all safety gear is cleaned and dried after use
