Thank you for your email of 26 January 2024 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the fol owing information:
o The date, time and location of your initial meeting with the new Minister for regional
resources for your department;
o A list of attendees at this meeting
o The cost of any flights and accommodation for staff who reside outside of wel ington to
attend this meeting
o Any documentation provided at the meeting
o All notes (including handwritten notes) taken at the meeting by department staff;
o A copy of any emails sent by department attendees or all staff communications regarding
the meeting with the new Minister
The date for the initial meeting between the Minister and Officials for the Regional Development
portfolio was 28 November 2023 at 4.10pm. It was attended by:

There was one document provided during
this meeting, which is being withheld under section 9(2)(f)(iv)
of the Act, to maintain the constitutional conventions for the time being which protect the confidentiality
of advice tendered by Ministers of the Crown and Officials. This document contains fiscal updates on the
Regional Development portfolio and relates to upcoming decisions.
Prior to the meeting, a Briefing for the incoming Minister for Regional Development (BIM) was provided
to Hon Shane Jones. This meeting focused on the BIM, which has been proactively released. You can

MBIE is therefore refusing your request for this document under section 18(d) of the Act, as the
information requested is or wil soon be publicly available.
As all staff that attended the meeting reside in Wellington, no flight or accommodation costs were
incurred. There were also no handwritten notes taken by MBIE staff during this meeting. MBIE is
therefore refusing these parts of your request under section 18(e) of the Act, that the document al eged
to contain the information requested does not exist or, despite reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be
found.
