The following feedback on the election campaign briefing to SFRC on 18 September 2023 set out below:
1.  What support for councillors will be provided?

This is a discussion to be held with CE and Commissioners and sits outside campaign.

Will need to clarify support prior to candidate college.

Some councils provide separate support to councillors e.g. Wellington City Council
2. For Public meetings for LTP – Commissioners want to have information to hand out at their meetings
-
Leaflet – ward maps, date for candidate college, attributes of good candidate – link back to website
-
Have this leaflet available by 15 November
-
Basic information on website by 15 November
3. Candidate College – wanted that earlier than March – agreed for it to be late February 2024 so we can advertise
– look at Saturday, 24 February 2024.
-
I will confirm venue for that date – looking at Historic Village or Baycourt
-
Want to see a panel of ex-councillors and one young councillor talking about their experiences (include a
young councillor from a metro – can recruit from LGNZ young elected members forum)
-
Liked idea about stalls – clearly set out projects and priorities
4. Video each candidate – liked this
Three questions to ask each candidate
-
Do you support the strategic direction in the LTP? – first question
-
Why are you standing for council?
-
What are your top 3 priorities for the city?
5. Nudge vote is crucial – very important to do this – can we use community organisations we have relationship
with to use their networks?
