Thank you for your request of 9 January 2024, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting the 
following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA): 
 
1.  A brief summary of the scope of work relating to the refurbishment of the bedrooms 
(eg the number of rooms, building, plumbing, electrical, etc), 
 
2.  The length of the project from the commencement of the work on the Station until the 
bedrooms were available again for the night crews. 
 
3.  The total cost of the refurbishment of the bedrooms 
 
Please find our response to your questions below.  
 
1.  A brief summary of the scope of work relating to the refurbishment of the bedrooms (eg 
the number of rooms, building, plumbing, electrical, etc). 
 
•  Deconstruct the internal and external walls for the length of the existing four bedrooms. 
•  Install new internal timber framing, new insulation and install new GIB board. 
•  Upgrade the fire rating of the bedrooms to current standards. 
•  Seismically strengthen the sleeping/bedroom area to 90% of NBS IL4. 
•  Renew the out-of-date switchboard and electrical circuits and install new lights and power 
outlets. 
•  Paint bedroom and hallway. 
•  Install new carpet in bedroom and hallway. 
•  Install new blinds and curtains. 
•  Install new aluminium double glazed window joinery. 
•  Install new weather board cladding. 
•  Install new reinforced concrete pathway between bedroom and lounge. 
•  Supply and install new lockers in the bedrooms.

•  Upgrade drainage and soak pit. 
 
2.  The length of the project from the commencement of the work on the Station until the 
bedrooms were available again for the night crews. 
 
The construction started in September 2023 and bedroom handover to the station was on  
21 December 2023. 
 
3.  The total cost of the refurbishment of the bedrooms.
