Of the 493 Year 7-8 students living in the Melville Intermediate school TEZ,
are enrolled at Melville High School.
231 (47%) are enrolled at Melville Intermediate School.
Over 400 students in the area choose secondary education elsewhere in the city
The 98 students choosing a similar structure of education at year 7 & 8 may
without a special character consideration. While it is appreciated that the single
well result in this number diminishing if some changes were made.

• To review the current structure of schooling by;

Consulting with the sector and the community to explore all options for future schooling., considering the
questions in the text in our context

From the options available prepare a shortlist for further considerations and consultation. From this
feedback;

• Define a clear process for this refreshment. The process wil include a clear timeframe for decision making,
clear terms of reference for any changes, realistic budget projections and a clear communications plan.
• Appointment of a “Refreshment Board” with representation of the current boards and appropriate
appointments to govern this project.

• To manage the consultation and development of this project, a project manager wil likely need to be
appointed. Initially this person wil manage the consultation process and prepare a detailed strategic plan

• Once all consultation is completed, present a detailed strategic plan for Education in the South West Hamilton
(Melvil e/Peacockes/Glenview) area that meets the community’s needs, is fiscally viable and achieves the
