Thank you for your email on 21 December 2023, asking for the following which has been 
considered under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
Could you please send me a copy of methamphetamine prescription amounts broken down 
by region and month going back as far as records exist. 
 
I understand this may result in having to obscure numbers for privacy reasons and older 
data may be organised differently. Switch from monthly/region breakdowns to something 
else if/when needed. 
 
Methamphetamine is a Class A controlled drug in New Zealand, and as such, is not prescribed as 
suggested by your request.  
 
We are therefore refusing your request under Section 18(e) of the Act as the information requested 
does not exist.
