Your Official Information Act request, reference: GOV-029599
Thank you for your email of 14 December 2023, asking for the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
For the date range of 01/01/2020 to present, I request the fol owing:
(1) List of ACC provider IDs with name and professional body to which they are registered
(e.g., Medical Council of NZ, Nursing Council of NZ, etc), and scope of practice.
(2) List of all contracted external clinical advisers for which ACC seeks advice.
(3) List of all ACC employees who are currently registered health providers, the name of the
authority in which they are registered, and their registration number.
(4) List of ACC roles that require current registration as a health provider, and thus would
qualify as a clinical role (e.g. Cover Assessor, Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Technical
Support).
Our response
We are withholding the information requested under questions 1 to 3 under section 9(2)(a) of the Act to
protect the privacy of these individuals. We have considered the public interest in the requested
information and have determined it does not outweigh the need to protect the privacy of these individuals.
For question 4, we have interpreted ‘current registration’ as referring to annual practising certification. We
note that some registering bodies do not require an annual practising certificate.
ACC job titles that require an annual practising certificate with a health professional regulatory body are:
• Clinical Advisor, Clinical Services
• Psychology Advisor, Clinical Services
• Medical Advisor, Clinical Services
• Principal Clinical Advisor, Clinical Services
• Clinical Advice Manager, Clinical Services
• Chief Clinical Officer, Health Partnerships
• Manager Strategic Clinical Advice and Governance, Health Partnerships
• Strategic Clinical Advisor, Health Partnerships (including Strategic Clinical Advisor Māori Health)
Specialist Cover Assessors in Claims Assessment require registration (including a current annual practising
certificate) on employment. However, if the work their role entails does not meet the ongoing
requirements of their registration body, they are unable to renew or maintain their certificates and are not
required to do so.
