Extension of time to respond to request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your email of 10 December 2023 requesting the fol owing information under the 
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
As an SOE I understand that you to give effect to government policy.  Please can you 
provide a copy of the written policy directive to deprioritise Waka Kothai as your main 
name. 
 
Please also provide all internal (non privileged) communications between your most 
senior staff (CEO and direct reports and one further  layer down) about any name priority 
change. 
 
This letter is to advise you that NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is extending the 20 
working days available to respond to your request, as allowed for under section 15A of the Act. 
We require an additional 10 working days and wil  send you a response on or before 13 February 
2024.  
 
The deadline is being extended as the consultations necessary to make a decision on your 
request are such that a thorough response cannot reasonably be made within the original 20-
working-day limit.  
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to complain to the Ombudsman about the 
extension. More information about the Ombudsman is available online at 
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
