Official Information Act (OIA) 1982 request – Follow up questions to a previous OIA
request
Dear T Murray
This letter responds to your OIA request received by Sport New Zealand (Sport NZ) on 9
December 2023 requesting further information about an OIA response which Sport NZ provided to
you on 28 November 2023. For ease of response, each question that you raised will be answered
separately below.
"Can you please provide me with:
- the cost of the Probity Advisor Report undertaken by Grant Thornton Consulting
and provided to Sport NZ on 14 January 2020.”
Sport NZ paid Grant Thornton $3,828.00 +GST for the Probity Advisor Report.
“- the reasoning or the decision paper that determined the 10 cultural
distinctive pathways for tangata whenua investment in high performance sport for
Paris 2024.”
There is no reasoning/decision paper that determined the ’10 cultural distinctive pathways for
tangata whenua investment in high performance sport for Paris 2024’. Therefore, your request for
the decision paper is refused under section 18(e) of the OIA as the document does not exist.
The 10 culturally distinctive pathways that are referred to were assessed and identified as part of
the wider investment decision making process in December 2021. Assessments were based on
the working definition used within the High Performance Sport NZ Strategy 2020 – 2024:
Culturally Distinctive High Performance Pathways – are performance pathways that facilitate
increased equitable access to high performance sport for tangata whenua and all cultures within
New Zealand, that; (i) ensure the high performance system is more representative of the country
as a whole; (ii) delivered in culturally appropriate ways; and (iii) enables and empowers increased
world class sporting performances that inspire New Zealanders
