Thank you for your email of 4 December to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment requesting,
under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
Official Information request - Request for an SOP for assessing Parent Category visa application 1.
Please provide all Standard Operating Procedures SOPs ( Family Category Parent), templates and
other staff guidance which have the steps of how a parent resident visa application is processed,
assessed/decided by INZ. These can be from Global Processing Manual or any other documents too.
You provided similar SOPs for "Assess Eligibility" Parent EOI assessment ( link below). However, my
request is for time after ITA has been issued and applicant has submitted the visa application to INZ
and it has been allocated to the immigration officer.

Our Response
Please refer to the attached Appendix for the information you have requested. Some information has been
withheld under the following sections of the Act:

6(c) as making available that information would be likely to prejudice the maintenance of the law
including the prevention, investigation, and detection of offences, and the right to a fair trial;

9(2)(a) to protect the privacy of natural persons;
•
9(2)(g)(ii) maintain the effective conduct of public affairs through the protection of such Ministers,
members of organisations, officers, and employees from improper pressure or harassment.
Please note that some parts of the release have been blacked out and not withheld under any sections of
the Act, as it contains personal information that has been removed from the training materials.
We have considered whether withholding private information is outweighed by other considerations
which render it desirable, in the public interest, to make that information available, in accordance with
section 9(1) of the Act, however, it is our opinion that such grounds do not exist.
