Principal’s Report
Mr Mangan spoke to his report which was circulated prior to the Board meeting.

Roll
The anticipated total 2021 rol of 2070 students is exclusive of 30 International Students who wil
remain in NZ.
HOD Milestone Meetings
These meetings wil be held in the first week of December and wil review results for the current
year and also look at staffing and goal setting for 2021.
NCEA
NCEA exams begin on Monday 16 November as the start date was delayed by a week due to
Covid.
Junior Exams
Junior assessment runs from Monday 16 to Thursday 19 November, where the students are
assessed on their work to date throughout the year.
End of Year Programme
In the last week of this term, Year 9 wil be involved in an alternative programme out and about in
the community. Year 10 camps also operate in the final week.
Junior Prizegiving
Junior prizegiving wil take place on Friday 11 December and a warm invitation is extended to al
Board members to attend.
2021 Timetable
Staffing is currently being al ocated to different classes. This is a complex problem fitting together
a large jigsaw of 130 staff into various options that the boys have selected.

We are stil awaiting a response to our most recent applications.

2020 Year 13
Our current Year 13 cohort finished last week and we hosted a breakfast for them at t he C
itizens
Club. Their behaviour over the final few days was exemplary and I c
ommended t hem o
n t hat, l ed
extremely wel by our outstanding Head Prefect, Logan Green.
House Competitions
The House competitions culminated last week with t he b
ench p
ress c
ompetition. Freyberg H
ouse
took out the competition for the year, the first time since the inception of the current House
competitions 11 years ago.
Old Boys Dinner
The Old Boys Dinner wil be held this Friday 20th November, where we wil honour the 2020 Old
Boy of the Year, John Bracewel .

breathtaking and certainly showed our wider community the l evel o

Kahui Ako
Kahui Ako are looking at rewriting the achievement chal enges for 2021 and these wil now be
cal ed progress aspirations:

Staffing
Congratulations to Pere Durie on his appointment to Associate Principal of Papamoa Col ege.
With this appointment we wil take time to review the portfolios of the Senior Leadership Team
before advertising for his replacement. An appointment process has taken place for the Within
School Teachers with 10 successful appointments being made. We have also made 12 new
staffing appointments for 2021.
MOE Teacher Only Day
This wil be held on Monday 23 November. This is a Ministry al ocated day as part of the Accord
with the focus on NCEA review and development.
12 Classroom Block
The architect has provided detailed design drawings which were tabled for the Board. The
intended start date of this construction is mid-2021 with completion anticipated for the end of
2022.
LED Lighting
This has been tabled on the Government Electronic Tender System and Wayne Merritt is working
through applicants for this along with the MOE.
Solar Panelling
I am awaiting two further quotes for solar panel ing which wil give us a total of four companies that
wil have put a proposal forward.
International Students
We anticipate 29 - 30 International students in 2021 which is very pleasing considering some
International Departments in schools have closed down.

functioned, including the discipline committee that convenes to meet with parents of suspended
students. The col ege has a zero tolerance for physical violence to keep our students safe.
Health & Safety
The Health & Safety Incidents Report from 15 September to 11 November 2020 was taken as read.
Finance Meetings
The minutes of the meeting held 19th October 2020 were taken as read.
Arts Council Trust
The minutes of the meeting held on 27th October 2020 were taken as read. Amanda Gilbertson
reported that the Trust is going wel and is financial y better with a formalised funding process.
Titans Sport Council Trust
The minutes of the meetings held 20th October 2020 were taken as read.
