Minister
Dear T Murray
This letter responds to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request received by Sport New
Zealand (Sport NZ) on 1 December 2023 requesting information about the first meeting between
Sport NZ officials and the new Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hon Chris Bishop.
You requested:
I would like to request the following information:
o The date, time and location of your initial meeting with the new Minister for your
department;
o A list of attendees at this meeting
o The cost of any flights and accommodation for staff who reside outside of wellington
to attend this meeting
o Any documentation provided at the meeting
o All notes (including handwritten notes) taken at the meeting by department staff;

A copy of any emails sent by department attendees or all staff communications
regarding the meeting with the new Minister.
The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days
after the day we received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit
and we are therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision to 20
February 2023.
We need to extend the timeframe of our response to your request by 20 working days, pursuant to
section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA as consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such
that a proper response to the request cannot be reasonably be made within the original time limit.
Please note that if you are not satisfied with this response, you have the right to make a complaint
to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the OIA. Information about how to contact the
