Thank you for your email of 27 November 2023 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) 
requesting the following information:  
1.  May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for 
public nominations for the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO, e.g. govt.jobs 
website. 

2.  Also, how many applications have you received from the public and how many you have 
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of Women etc with your 
most recent call for nomination. 

3.  Also, can you please supply the term of appointment and member’s pay rate. 
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). 
The Ministry needs to extend the timeframe for responding to your request, pursuant to sections 
15A(1)(a) and section 15A(1)(b) of the Act, as the request necessitates a search through a large 
quantity of information, and consultations necessary to verify and make a decision on the request 
are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. You can 
now expect to receive a response to your request on or before 14 February 2024, which is an 
extension of 20 working days. Please note, the response date also takes into account Waitangi 
Day, which falls on 6 February 2024. 
Should we have the information on hand prior to the extended due date, we will respond to your 
request at an earlier stage.
