INFORMATION REQUEST – Board Intern Programme
We  write  in  response  to  your  email  dated  24  November  2023  in  which  you  requested  the
following information:
I noted,
https://www.tauranga.govt.nz/council/council-news-and-updates/latest-
news/artmid/456/articleid/9350

May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have
call  for  public  nominations  mostly  recently,  e.g.  govt.jobs  website. Also,  how
many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc.
Also, can you please supply the term of appointment and its pay rate.

We have considered your request in accordance with the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (“LGOIMA”) and respond as follows:
This is the second year of the council-controlled organisation (CCO) Board Intern
Programme, which is a collaboration with the Ministry for Ethnic Communities. It aims to
increase diversity on our CCO boards and to provide a pipeline of prospective emerging
board members in the Bay of Plenty.
We advertised the internship with the Bay Venues Limited Board this year through the
following channels:
  Institute of Directors’ advertising channels – newsletter, website and social media
  Appoint Better Boards advertising channels – newsletter, website and social media
  Tauranga City Council LinkedIn Page, YouTube channel, and website
  Shared the advertisement with our Community Development Team’s networks to
request wider distribution across diverse community groups
  Shared the advertisement with our other CCOs, requesting they also share it on their
social media pages and with their networks.

We received 31 applications, which were all direct applications rather than from nominating
agencies. We shortlisted and interviewed three candidates.
The CCO Board Internship is a voluntary position for twelve months, which commenced on 1
November 2023.
