Request for information from the Coroners Court file for Urban Hoglin 
 
Thank you for your email of 19 November 2023 to the Ministry of Justice (the Ministry) 
requesting the post-mortem report from the Coroners Court file for Urban Hoglin. I am 
responding to your request under the Coroners Act 2006 (the Act). Specifically, you 
requested: 
 
I request under the official information act all information you have regarding the 
pathologist and autopsy report of Sven Urban Hoglin deceased April 10 1989 in the 
Coromandel area. 
 
Your request has been considered under the Act, in accordance with the 2012 
‘Memorandum on Access to Court Record Information on Closed Coronial Files’ (the 
memorandum), as agreed by the Ministry and the Chief Coroner. In accordance with the 
memorandum, access to post-mortem reports on closed Coroners Court files is only 
available to immediate family members of the deceased and medical requesters, due to the 
highly sensitive nature of post-mortem reports. I am therefore refusing your request to 
protect the privacy of natural persons, including that of deceased natural persons. You can 
request the post-mortem report if you provide signed authorisation and photo identification of 
an immediate family member of the deceased. Alternatively, if you are seeking the post-
mortem for medical purposes, please provide a brief of your request and it will be considered 
by the Chief Coroner.
