Official Information Act Request: SMS/TEXT messages 
 
I acknowledge receipt of your official information request dated 13 November 2023 for copies of 
SMS/TEXT messages exchanged on official communication devices, encompassing all transmissions 
of official messages, including personal or work duties on official platforms, commencing from April 
1, 2023. Specifically, you requested information pending to three individual staff members, including 
their personal notifications. 
 
In regard to this request, we have decided to refuse your request under section 9(2)(a) of the Official 
Information Act (OIA) for reasons of privacy of natural persons. There is potential for harm in 
releasing this information, giving us good reason to withhold the information.
