I refer to your information request dated 7 December 2023 made under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act). You have requested:
Recently, after the release of grades, applicants who did not meet the program's entry
requirements were automatically declined (on the eVision). In a previous response, you
mentioned that "conditional offers are made to applicants who have been evaluated
separately from others in the cohort." If a conditional offer means that these applicants were
assessed differently from the standard admission criteria and were admitted subject to certain
conditions, is it correct to understand that they were admitted subject to certain conditions
even though they did not meet the admission requirements?
Please see below our response to your request.
For the Health Sciences Professional Programmes, Conditional Offers are not assessed differently, and
applicants must still meet the same entry requirements as all other applicants. The entry requirements
for each programme are detailed in their respective Guidelines for Admission – this information is
available online via the University’
s website. Conditional Offers are issued when an applicant has in principle been approved by the programme,
but the University does not yet have fully finalised or official information that confirms that they have
met all of the relevant programme’s entry requirements – the offer is conditional on the applicant
meeting those requirements. Examples of situations where this may arise are:
• the University is still waiting on finalised NCEA results to ensure they meet the expected
Secondary School category requirements (Dental Technology, Oral Health and Radiation
Therapy only), or that they achieve University Entrance; or
• the University is still waiting on completed Police checks for applicants.
