Dear T Murray
This letter responds to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request received by Sport New
Zealand (Sport NZ) on 3 November 2023 requesting the below information:
•
A copy of all documentation used to support Chris Luxon’s visit to HP Sport NZ on 2
November.
•
A copy of any documents provided the Chris Luxon on his visit.
•
A copy of any presentation given to Mr Luxon.
•
A list of all attendees present during Mr Luxon’s visit.
•
A copy of any notes (including handwritten) taken during the visit. The total cost of the
visit including any catering, flights / taxis for staff / athletes or consultants to attend the
visit.
•
Any emails or communications regarding the success or otherwise of Mr Luxon’s visit
between staff and athletes.
Please note that the visit on 2 November 2023 was not organised by High Performance Sport New
Zealand (HPSNZ). It was a tour of the entire Auckland University of Technology (AUT) Millennium
facility arranged by AUT Millennium. As part of their tour, AUT Millennium invited HPSNZ to
showcase the areas that HPSNZ leases and operates within the facility.
We have attached all relevant documents and communications held by HPSNZ in relation to this
visit. This includes:
o A run sheet for the day that was prepared by AUT Millennium and provided to MP Erica

Stanford’s office. The run sheet contains a list of attendees, athletes, and programme
throughout the day.
o A copy of an email sent to all staff on Friday 3 November 2023 mentioning the visit.
Comments about the visit were included in a regular weekly update sent to all staff. The
remainder of the email has been withheld as it falls outside the scope of your request.
Please note that some phone numbers and email addresses have been withheld in accordance
with section 9(2)(a) of the OIA to protect the privacy of natural persons. In accordance with section
9(1) of the OIA, I have considered whether there are countervailing public interest considerations in
favour of releasing this information. I do not believe such considerations exist in this instance.
The remainder of your request is declined under sections 18(e) and 18(g)(i) of the OIA. The
following documents which you have requested do not exist:
o
A copy of any documents provided the Chris Luxon on his visit.
o
A copy of any presentation given to Mr Luxon.
o
A copy of any notes (including handwritten) taken during the visit.
Further, Sport NZ does not hold any information relating to
“The total cost of the visit including any
catering, flights / taxis for staff / athletes or consultants to attend the visit”. As the visit was
arranged by AUT Millennium, we do not believe that the information is held by another department.
The travel for any of the visitors or athletes present at the visit was not booked by or paid for by
Sport NZ.
