I refer to your information request dated 21 October 2023 made under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act). You have requested the following information: 
 
“the number of students who were in the HSFY General Category in 2022 who: 
 
1) Who applied to the BDS professional programme for 2023. 
 
2) The number of students from them who got offered a seat into the program for 2023. 
 
3) The number of students who accepted their BDS offer for 2023. 
 
I would also like to ask for clarification on what the minimum academic average score was 
needed for an HSFY General category student in 2022, for entry into BDS for 2023. This is due 
to some differences in answers for previous FYI requests made, with the value being 
"87.00%" and in other instances, "85.14%".” 
 
Please see below the information you have requested: 
 
1.  The number who applied to the BDS professional programme for 2023 via the HSFY 
General category. 
2.  The number of students who got offered a seat into the BDS programme for 2023 via the 
HSFY General category. 
3.  The number of students who accepted their BDS offer for 2023 via the HSFY General 
category. 
 
Please see the below table which shows the number of applicants, the number of applicants to 
receive offers, and the number of applicants to accept offers (be admitted) to the 2023 Bachelor of 
Dental Surgery (BDS) programme via the Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) category.

4.  The minimum average academic score for applicants receiving offers into the 2023 BDS 
Professional Programme via the HSFY General Category 
 
We can confirm that the minimum average academic score for applicants receiving offers to the 
2023 BDS programme via the HSFY general category was 85.14. The score of 87.00 we provided 
in a previous response was incorrect and we have issued a correction to the previous requester.
