Thank you for your request of 12 October 2023 through the FYI website to the Ministry of Business, 
Innovation and Employment (MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the 
fol owing information: 
  Please supply all communications from 01 November 2022 to present, including but not limited to 
Texts , Emails, Phone records, Social messages where the subject or content included the 
discussion of OIA requests on RAL liquidation or Administration. 
 
Your request as currently framed will be very difficult to meet without substantial collation or research. 
Unless your request is amended, we may have to refuse it under section 18(f) of the Act, which applies 
where the information cannot be made available without substantial collation or research. 
MBIE has identified 28 Official Information Act (OIA) requests that are within scope of your request. Due 
to the nature of these requests and the Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Limited (In Liquidation) subject, many 
required substantial col ation, research, and communication. A quick search for one of the OIA requests 
indicated that 108 emails are within scope of your request. We believe this number would increase when 
we conduct an information and data search by MBIE’s Records Services team. MBIE calculates that it 
takes five minutes to process each email, therefore if every OIA within scope of your request averages 
108 emails this would calculate to 252 hours. This does not factor in any texts, phone records, social 
messages, and any consultations we may be required to complete. 
MBIE therefore invites you to narrow or clarify your request. Please let us know before 10 November 
2023 whether you are prepared to amend or clarify your request and, if so, how. 
Please note, if you do amend or clarify your request, this will be considered to be a new request for the 
purpose of calculating the maximum statutory timeframe for response, please refer to section 15(1AA) of
