Information Request –Waiharara and Evergreen Terrace Fire Operation Report 
 
Thank you for your information requests dated 12 October 2023 asking for the following 
information regarding the Waiharara and Evergreen Terrace operational reviews. 
 
“A major vegetation fire occurred at Waiharara on 18 Dec 2021.  This fire took 
several months to completely extinguish and resulted in additional costs to FENZ 
of some $9,000,000. I request a copy of the Operational Report for this fire that 
has been undertaken by FENZ for this significant fire event that occurred 22 
months ago.” 
 
“I request for a third time a copy of the Operational Report for the 22 Jan 2022 
fire.” 
 
As noted in our response to your previous requests for this information, while the operational 
review has been undertaken, the reports have not been finalised. The reports you have requested 
are the priority work for the Operational Review Team and will be completed as soon as possible. 
Your request is refused under section 18(e) of the OIA, as the document al eged to contain the 
information requested does not exist, or despite a reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be found. 
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
