Request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your email of 2 October 2023 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
Please provide analysis (if any held) of the environmental impact of NZTA windscreen labels. 
 
Part of your request for information regarding any potential plans to remove the labels was transferred 
to Te Manatū Waka Ministry of Transport on 10 October 2023, which wil  address that aspect of your 
request in due course. 
 
I am refusing your request for analysis of the environmental impact of windscreen labels under section 
18(g) of the Act because the information requested is not held by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency 
and I have no grounds for believing that the information is held by another department or Minister of 
the Crown or organisation, or by a local authority. 
 
I can, however, advise that the current labels we use are a result of Waka Kotahi working continuously 
with our suppliers to make this product and the manufacturing process as environmentally friendly as 
possible, while stil  being fit for purpose.  
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse 
this request. The contact details for the Ombudsman can be located at 
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz. 
 
In line with Waka Kotahi policy, this response wil  soon be published on our website, with personal
