Official Information request – NZ Graduate Medical School  
I refer to your request for official information of 27 September 2023 in which you have requested 
the following: 
1.  Please  advise  if  entrance  requirements  have  been  established  for  students  to  enter  the  NZ 
Graduate  Medical  School  that  the  University  of  Waikato  is  current  working  on. 
If said requirements have been established could you please provide them. 
 
2.  If a student wishing the enter does not hold a traditional undergraduate degree, but holds a 
Master  of  Business  Administration  Degree  issued  by  the  University  of  Waikato,  alongside 
numerous professional qualifications could this student be granted special admission? 
Under the Official Information Act 1982 (Act) the University of Waikato (University) has given due 
consideration to your request and responds as follows. 
Please have a look at the attached link where you will see that the creation of a Graduate Entry 
Medical  School  https://www.waikato.ac.nz/major-projects/medical-school  is  a  proposal  at  this 
stage.  It  has  not  been  established.  As  the  information  doesn’t  exist  the  University  refuses  your 
request for information under section 18(e) of the Act. 
The  University  regularly  updates  the  content  of  its  website  so  please  keep  an  eye  out  for  any 
updates on the proposal. 
You  have  the  right  to  seek  an  investigation  and  review  by  the  Ombudsman  of  this  decision.
