Official Information Act request
Thank you for your information request dated
11 September 2023.
You asked for the
following information:
“Please provide me with the total amount of funding allocated for the development
of Te Reo in your ministry and affiliated organizations since the beginning of the new
government in 2020, along with a breakdown of how this allocated funding has been
utilized or distributed”.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act).
I can confirm that a total of $239,112.46 was allocated for the development of te reo
within Te Puni Kōkiri since November 2020. This funding was for an external facilitator
to deliver te reo training courses across a range of levels from beginner to advanced
for our kaimahi. Each calendar year, six rounds of training are allocated as needs
dictate across different levels. A round of training comprises six modules of seven
lessons per module.
We have interpreted “affiliated organizations” to mean statutory crown entities to whom
Te Puni Kōkiri is the monitoring department. Te Puni Kōkiri does not hold the
information requested for the statutory crown entities. You may wish to request this
information directly from these entities.
I trust my response satisfies your request.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this
response. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
Please note that Te Puni Kōkiri publishes some of its OIA responses on its website,
after the response is sent to the requester. The responses published are those that are
considered to have a high level of public interest. We will not publish your name,
address or contact details.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request with us, including this decision,
please feel free to contact us
at [TPK request email]. Ngā mihi
