Tēnā koe Amin
On 11 September 2023
, you emailed Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People (Whaikaha)
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
•
‘Please provide me with the total amount of funding allocated for the
development of Te Reo in your ministry and affiliated organizations since the
beginning of the new government in 2020, along with a breakdown of how this
allocated funding has been utilized or distributed.’
Whaikaha was established on 1 July 2022. Currently, Whaikaha does not have a specific
budgeted spend allocated for the development of Te Reo. However, Whaikaha pays one
employee an allowance that recognises their Te Reo Māori proficiency certificate from Te
Taura Whiri | Te Reo Māori (The Māori Language Commission). This payment is aligned
with our agreed terms as part of our PSA Collective Agreement, as is common across
many Government agencies.
As Whaikaha continue to grow we are working through what cultural capability
development will look like, to support our kaimahi.
