Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 28 August 2023. You 
requested: 
Under the OIA can you please detail how many homicides have occurred on 
a month-by-month basis in Auckland’s CBD from October 2020 through to 
August 28th 2023. 
Police does not produce homicide data for CBD level therefore this part of your request is 
refused under s18(g) of the OIA, as the information isn’t held. Police can provide 
homicide data that is categorised at Auckland City District level only.  
The map below shows the area covered by the Auckland City Police District.

The table below shows the number of homicides by month from 2020 to 31 August 2023, 
in the Auckland City District.  Please note that data is drawn from a dynamic/provisional 
database. This means that a case may be included as a homicide but following an 
investigation, it may later be ruled out as a culpable homicide. Likewise, it may not initially 
be included as a homicide but following investigation, subsequently established to be the 
opposite.  Therefore, the numbers can change as subsequent information becomes 
available.
