We are notifying you today of updated guidance.
The Ministry of Health has recently updated its guidance for Household contacts to provide clarity
on when contacts should isolate. For households with COVID-19, the Ministry of Health
recommends the following guidance be applied:
· If someone becomes a confirmed COVID-19 Case, then that Case (Case A) and all other
people in their household (i.e. Case A’s Household Contacts, except any Household
Contact who has been a confirmed Covid-19 case and completed a period of self-isolation
in the previous 3 months) must isolate for 7 days
· If someone else in the household tests positive for COVID-19:
1. during the initial 7-day isolation period, then that person must isolate for an
additional 7 days, but other Household Contacts are still able to leave isolation
on day 8 of Case A’s isolation period (provided they have not returned a positive
RAT during their isolation),
2. within 10 days of Case A’s release from isolation, then the expectation is that other
Household Contacts do not need to reisolate (though the person who tested
positive does need to isolate for 7 days as they are now a confirmed Case).
3. later than 10 days after Case A’s release from isolation, then the expectation is that
other Household Contacts reisolate along with the new Case for 7 days (Case A,
and anyone else in the house who has already recovered from COVID-19, is not
considered a Household Contact for 90 days following their recovery, and
therefore is not required to isolate).
A tertiary bulletin will likely go out early this week covering this also.
We have your contact information as our main and secondary covid contact, but please forward
this on to any other parties in your organisation that needs to know.
Kind regards
9(2)(a)  and the TEC SPOC team.
