Universities: Reporting of cases

Kia ora everyone
We know it is getting busy out there. You are all doing amazing work in complicated times.
We are writing to you briefly today around reporting.
Many of you are working with the SPOC team closely and notifying us of cases as you are
notified. Others are working with less SPOC support and contact (and this is fine if this is working
for you).
For the latter group we are finding a delay in reporting positive case numbers means we do not
have a good view of the situation on the ground. We require an understanding of the full tertiary
picture to update the Minister and also support our regular conversations with the Ministry of
Health.
We would like to request – with effect tomorrow (24 February 2022) that you please report daily
to the 9(2)(g)(ii)

1) The total number of positive cases to date on campus
2) The total number of positive cases to date in tertiary accommodation – as a subset of the
number above.
We are aware that several TEIs are now using and acting upon RAT tests. For our reporting we
consider a positive RAT test result to be a positive case.
We know that many of you are reporting to your own Senior Leadership teams daily and you
have suggested you forward that daily report on to us – which means you do not need to do
anything additional. If this works for you, it works for us.
We also do not mind what time you report in as we know several of you have different daily
processes.
Furthermore, we are sending this message to you, as we have you down as our main contact
person for covid-related matters. We are also sending this to the secondary contact you have
provided us with. We do know contact details are also changing on the ground, so ask that you
please keep the TEC SPOC team informed of any changes.
And finally, for those of you who do not already know: the updated tertiary bulletin was released

There are some important updates in this bulletin. Please keep a regular close eye on these
bulletins.
