Official Information Act request
The Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) received your email request for
official information on 22 August 2023. You requested the following information under the
Official Information Act, 1982 (OIA):
1. Does the Government et al have figures from placebo-controlled, randomised
and blinded scientific studies that provide statistically significant evidence that
subjects treated with the substance BNT162b2 so called (“Comirnaty-COVID-
19 vaccine” from BioNTech/Pfizer”) have overall suffered fewer medically
undesirable events as subjects who received this placebo, and

2. If so, what are they, and
3. What is the date of the most recent analysis of the numbers at which time the
criteria of placebo controlled, randomised and blinded were still met?
In response, please note that the HRC has not funded any research related to the
substance BNT162b2 so called (“Comirnaty-COVID-19 vaccine” from BioNTech/Pfizer”).
As such, we have no information to provide.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this
decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
