I refer to your request, transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (the Ministry) by
the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet on 10 August 2023, in which you request the
following under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
‘I would like to know detailed information on the Christchurch Call which I understand
is administered from the DPMC.
Specifically how many people are employed on this group?
The total budget and break down of the costs (salaries, administration, travel).
I would like this information for the last two financial years.
In response to your request, the Ministry provides the following breakdown of expenditure on
the Christchurch Call, including salary, travel and other costs. The number of Full Time
Equivalent (FTE) staff undertaking work to support the Christchurch Call for the Ministry is 2.2.
The Ministry draws upon additional support from our Communications Division as required, for
example to support Call Summits and the Call website. Figures are shown in NZD.
Finacial Year
2021/22
2022/23
Personnel
$290,198
$357,172
Travel
$177,512
Other
$103,962
Total
$290,198
$638,646
The hosting of the Christchurch Call Summit, and an upgrade of the Christchurch Call website,
took place within the 2022/23 financial year, which is the reason for the variance in the
expenditure above.
Please note that it is our policy to proactively release our responses to official information
requests where possible. Therefore, our response to your request (with your personal information
removed) may be published on the Ministry website:
