Request for Information – Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 
 
We refer to your official information request dated 25 July 2023 for: 
•  The total cost incurred for all the 2023 Matariki events funded by the Council. 
 
As part of the 2021-2031 Long Term Plan, $150,000 was budgeted annually to celebrate 
Matariki through one or many events. 
 
The cost of this year’s Matariki Puanga Celebration was approximately $60,000 (final costs 
currently being finalised). $9,000 of that cost being invested in equipment that can be used for 
future events. 
Al  other activities were delivered in Hutt City Council hubs from existing resources.
