Thank you for your request on 17 July 2023 asking for the following which has been considered
under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Please provide publicly funded hospital discharges for acute kidney injury for the last 20
years by financial year and 10 year age groups. I would like it in the same format as that
provided for myocarditis and pericarditis in H202207093.
The information requested is provided below. Please note the following when considering this data:
• Age is taken at time of discharge.
• The counts are of discharges and not people. People with multiple hospitalisations are
counted each time they are discharged.
• This data is extracted from the National Minimum Dataset (NMDS) on 18 July 2023 and is
for financial years (i.e., to 30 June).
• Counts are of discharges with a primary diagnosis of acute renal failure (ICD-10-AM version 2
clinical code N17)
