Thank you for your email of 13 July 2023 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
1. Please provide information regarding in which circumstances the request for information
(RFI) letter and the Potentially Prejudicial Information (PPI) letters will be sent and the
processing timeframes respectively.
2. Also please provide immigration internal assessment templates and training materials
regarding PPI for each visa category.
On 11 August 2023, MBIE provided a response to Question 1 of your request and notified you that
we had decided to extend the period of time available to respond to Question 2 of your request under
section 15A(1)(a) of the Act, as the request necessitated a search through a large quantity of
information, and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with the operations of
the Ministry. We indicated that you could expect a further response on or before 25 August 2023.

Please refer to the Appendix 1 for the information regarding each visa category, and Appendices 2,3
and 4 for internal assessment templates and training materials within scope of your request. Please
note that while the case studies provided depict a realistic scenario, some applicant names and
associated people are fictional.
Please also note some information has been withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the Act, to protect the
privacy of natural persons. Some information has also been marked as out of scope of the request.
