19 July 2023

: [FYI request #23249 email] Dear Bob
Official Information Act 1982 #22.214 - Extension
1.
We refer to your request received on 23 June 2023 for:
1.1
all internal communications within the Commerce Commission as well as any
communications/discussions held with the Privacy Commissioner/Crown
law/other 3rd parties involved with the RCS/inhouse counsel/legal advisers
with regards to the scope of the data collection, privacy implications of
collecting the data requested within the draft data request and plans to
dispose of or retain the data after the completion of the RCS for any future
use.
2.
We have treated this as a request for information under the Official Information Act
1982 (OIA).
3.
The original date by which the Commission must decide your request is 24 July 2023,
being 20 working days from our receipt of the request.
4.
The Commission can in certain circumstances extend the time limit for deciding a
request for information, under section 15A of the OIA. The Commission is extending
the deadline to decide your request to
21 August 2023.
5.
The reason for the extension of time is that the request is for a large quantity of
information or necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and
meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with the operations of
the Commission, under section 15A(1)(a) of the OIA.
6.
We will advise you of our decision on your request by no later than 21 August 2023.
7.
If you are not satisfied with the Commission’s extension of time, you have the right
to make a complaint to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the OIA. However,
we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with your first.

about this extension.
Yours sincerely
