Official Information Act request: information about the commercial fishing vessel Marara, MNZ133939

I refer to your request to Maritime NZ on 19 June 2023 as follows:
“Please provide following information about the commercial fishing vessel "Marara"
MNZ 133939.
1. Is this vessel currently in survey?
2. If no to above, what date did it's survey run out and how long after that date can it
operate without a current survey?
3. If the vessel is not currently in survey should it be operating?
4. If the vessel is operating without a current survey as a commercial vessel what is
the legal mechanism allowing it to do so.”
We have considered your request in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act).
We can confirm that the vessel Marara does have a current certificate of compliance. This
certificate was issued on 11 February 2021 and expires on 14 September 2024. We have not
provided responses to questions 2 to 4, since the answer to question 1 renders them
redundant.
