I refer to your information request dated 15 June 2023 made under the Official Information Act 1982 
(the Act), which you subsequently revised on 16 June 2023 as follows:  
 
I would like to request admission scores for entry to the MBChB and BDS programmes via the 
HSFY international category for 2018-2023. Please exclude those who had a preconditional 
offer to enter into MbCHb and BDS. 
 
Please find below our response to your request.

In respect of 2023, there were fewer than five unsuccessful candidates in this category. We have 
determined that it is necessary to withhold the specific score in respect of this category, in order to 
protect the privacy and wellbeing of these students. We consider that withholding this informa�on is 
necessary to protect against the iden�ty of these students being determined or inferred, and their 
personal informa�on (i.e. their marks) could be disclosed. We therefore withhold this informa�on 
pursuant to sec�on 9(2)(a) of the Act. 
Student Administra�on has provided the following notes in respect of this data: 
•  Academic score is not the sole determinant of applica�on outcome. The above informa�on 
does not imply that all successful applicants had higher scores. 
•  If an applica�on is assessed to be ineligible, they may not have received an academic score. 
These applica�ons would therefore not be included in the above data. 
•  The scores above are for those who did not receive an offer for the programme—there may 
be applicants with higher scores who did receive an offer but did not enter the programme, 
and may not therefore be considered successful.

for withholding information, and this is not outweighed by other considerations which would make 
it desirable, in the public interest, to make the information available.
