I refer to your information request dated 12 June 2023 made under the Official Information Act 1982 
(the Act). You have requested: 
 
 
“I am requesting the budget breakdown for all course fees at the University of Otago Medical 
School. This includes the years: MICN201, MICN301, MICN401, MICN501 and MICN601 for the 
class of 2024. 
 
 
The years these papers were taken are as follows: 
 
MICN201 - 2020 
 
MICN301 - 2021 
 
MICN401 - 2022 
 
MICN501 - 2023 
 
MICN601 – 2024”. 
 
Subject to the following comments, please see below the information you have requested:

The fees shown below are the amounts that a student would pay to complete the papers. 
• 
MICN201 and MICN301 are 0.975 of an Equivalent Full-time Student (EFTS) enrolment, 
therefore these two papers are each charged at 0.975 EFTS of the 1 EFTS fee amount set each 
year. 
• 
In the sixth year of the Medicine programme, students are now required to enrol in four 
quarterly papers (MICN641, MICN642, MICN643, and MICN648) instead of one paper 
(MICN601).  The four papers are equivalent to a 1.0 EFTS. 
• 
We are unable to advise the tuition fees for 2024 as these have not yet been set, however, in 
case it is helpful, we have provided the 2023 fees for MICN641, MICN642, MICN643, 
MICN648.
