Dear Frank
Official Information Act request for latest plans relating to Seismic resilience of lifeline
utilities
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request received on 8 June 2023.
You requested:
Please release the latest plan issued by each entity identified as a lifeline utility under
the civil defence emergency management act for functioning during and after an
emergency (more specifically a seismic event if it helps) as requested by the director
under the civil defence emergency management act and the date the director last
requested this plan and the date it was issued/received. “ ”
I have interpreted your request for lifeline line utilities to be the entities listed in Schedule 1 of
the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002 and have interpreted ‘plans’ to relate to
section 60 (b) of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act, which states lifeline utilities
‘
make available to the Director in writing, on request, its plan for functioning during and after
an emergency’.
I can advise that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has conducted a
search of its holdings and no items have been identified as within scope of your request,
Therefore I am declining your request under section, 18(e), information does not exist.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under section
28(3) of the Act.
Yours sincerely
Anthony Richards
