Thank you for your email of 8 June to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
•
I am writing to request examples of Culturally Arranged Marriage visitor visa assessments or any and
all training materials regarding how Immigration Officers assess criteria for this visa type.
Our Response
Please refer to Appendix One for the training materials for the Culturally Arranged Marriage (CAM) visitor
visa category. Please note some information has been withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the Act, to protect
the privacy of natural persons.
There are no specific assessment templates used for the CAM applications as the visas are processed in the
Enhanced Immigration Online system. This is an activity-based system which identifies criteria specific to
the visa application and category. Activities are then generated in our system for immigration officers to
assess.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information
about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802
602.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request or this response, please contact [email address]
