Official Information Act 1982 (“Act”) request for: 
Airways Corporation of New Zealand Limited Accounts Payable Summary 2021/2022 
We refer to your official information request dated 9 May 2023 for the annual amount 
spent by Airways with its suppliers for the 2021/2022 financial year. 
We have decided to grant your request in part.  Please find enclosed a list of Airways suppliers 
for the period requested. 
Redactions have been applied for the following reasons: 
1)  Airways provides air traffic control services for a large area of the South Pacific and for 
New Zealand for which the security of our air traffic systems are paramount. The 
supplier security services and software enables Airways to provide uninterrupted safe 
air traffic management for the safety of aircraft and for the travelling public. We have 
redacted the suppliers associated with the security of these Airways systems. (in 
accordance with Section 6(a) and 6(d) of the Act); 
2)  Airways, as a State Owned Enterprise, is required to engage suppliers on a 
commercially competitive basis.  Disclosing the amounts spent on each supplier would 
unreasonably prejudice the commercial position of both Airways and the suppliers (in 
accordance with Section 9 (2)(b)(ii) of the Act); and 
 
3)  Airways is required to protect the privacy of natural persons engaged as suppliers and 
the supplier list has had personal names redacted where appropriate (in accordance 
with Section 9(2)(a) of the Act).
