[FYI request #22685 email]
2 June 2023
Dear John Luke,
OIA 22-23-58: NZTE Economic Roadshow
Thank you for your email of 5 May 2023 to New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), making
a request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). You requested the following
information:
I noted, https://waateanews.com/2023/04/27/nzte-takes-economic-roadshow-to-muriwhenua/
“ Dale Stephens, the director of Māori partnerships at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, says
the team includes investment analysts, advisors in specific areas such as the primary sector,
horticulture, Digitech and tourism.”
May I request the name of NZTE personal who attend this roadshow. A copy of any
presentation/ brochure used during the roadshow. The list of roadshow NZTE attend this year-
2023.
Answers to your questions are as follows:
1. The article you refer to contains inaccurate information. NZTE has not held a economic
roadshow at Muriwhenua. Instead, NZTE held a workshop made up of members from
across different parts of NZTE who work in Māori-specific roles and/or who whakapapa
Māori.
The following NZTE people, listed as job titles, attended the workshop: General Manager –
Investment, Investment Director – Māori, Māori Solutions Lead – Customer Capability,
Investment Director – Companies, Operations Advisor – Legal, Head of Māori Export
Customers, Customer Director - Māori Export Customers, Customer Manager – Māori
Business, Export Customer Advisor, Customer Manager – Māori Business, Customer
Manager – Māori Customers, Customer Manager – Māori Export Customers, Investment
Manager, Investment Associate, Investment Analyst, Pou Ahurea Māori, Events Manager,
Executive Assistant and Community Manager, Trade Commissioner, Trade Director,
Director Māori Partnership and Customer Director – Food Beverage and Consumer Goods.
2. As this was a workshop for NZTE people, no brochure exists. One presentation from an
external stakeholder took place during the workshop. A copy of this presentation is
withheld under section 9(2)(ba)(i) as its release would be likely to prejudice the supply of
similar information or information from the same source, and it is in the public interest that
such information should continue to be supplied.
3. NZTE does not hold information on invitations to external events, such as roadshows.
NZTE is refusing this part of your request for a list of roadshows that NZTE has attended
this year under section 18(g) of the OIA because the information is not held, nor is there
any other relevant agency that would hold it.
