Official information request regarding e-scooters on Campus
I refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act)
dated 19 April 2023:
“I would like to request information regarding the use of hireable e-scooters on
the Te Herenga Waka Kelburn Campus grounds.
More specifically -
a)
Why is the entirety of the Kelburn Campus geofenced as a "no go zone" by
both Beam and Flamingo, when neither the Massey or Otago campuses in
Wellington are? Was this a decision made by Te Herenga Waka, or by
Beam/Flamingo?
b)
What was the motivation to not work directly with these companies to
provide e-scooter parking near the boundaries of this "no-go zone" like
Massey and Otago provide by their campuses?
c)
Was any consultation done with the wider student/staff body regarding
the use of e-scooters as their primary form of transport?
d)
Is any future consultation with the student/staff body regarding e-
scooters on campus planned, or alignment with local e-scooter
companies?”
As per my correspondence dated 9 May 2023, parts a) and b) of your request have been
transferred to Wellington City Council.
Information relating to parts c) and d) of your request does not exist or cannot be found.
Therefore, these aspects of your request are refused in accordance with s18(e) of the Act.
