I refer to your Official Information Act request 1982 (OIA) of 27 March 2023 for:  
 
All communications including but not limited to, emails, texts, and phone calls with 
Chris Hipkins or his office and staff regarding up coming travel, plans to travel, travel 
strategy or travel expectations from November 2022 through to 27th March 2023. 
 
This letter is to advise that the timeframe for responding to your request is being extended 
by 20 working days, to 25 May 2023. This is because the request necessitates a search 
through  a  large  quantity  of  information  and  meeting  the  original  time  limit  would 
unreasonably interfere with the operations of the department (section 15A(1)(a) of the OIA 
refers).  
 
However, if this process is completed before 25 May 2023, the response will be sent to you 
as soon as possible.  
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision 
by contacting www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
