Request for Information
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request dated 23 March 2023, in
which you requested the fol owing:

Auror has been in use since the 4th of April 2018 at the latest,

%2001%2022%2035618%20Response.pdf) was Auror redacted, omitted, or
suppressed from criminal disclosure at any time after it was introduced (including
its trial period)? By redacted, omitted, or suppressed I mean either in whole or in
part. For instance, was there guidance to withhold certain aspects of the system,
or an approved guideline of what could be included in disclosure or warrant
applications?
Please provide all documentation relating to this question. This may take the form
of guidance materials or communications between the first registered users on
the platform. I also seek the same material in reference to vGRID (VIBE).
By way of response, it would require a manual review of al files to identify those cases
where either Auror or vGRID (VIBE) information was part of the case, and if so whether
any information relating to Auror or vGRID (VIBE) was not disclosed, either in whole or in
part. This would require substantial research and collation, and if it was undertaken could
only be done at disproportionate cost. I am therefore refusing your request under section
18(f) of the OIA.
For completeness, there is no Police guidance material or policy on withholding
information specifically to Auror or SaferCities vGRID. In regard to criminal disclosure,
this is governed by the Criminal Disclosure Act 2008.
Although it has not been possible to provide the specific information you requested, we
nonetheless trust you find this response helpful. If you are not satisfied with this
response, however, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review Police’s handling
of your request. Information about how to do so is available at:
