Official information request relating to The Asian Arts Fund 
Thank you for your Official Information Act request received on 18 March 2023. 
You have requested the fol owing information relating to the Asian Artists’ Fund, a partnership fund 
between Creative New Zealand and Foundation North, for the years 2022 and 2023: 
1-What has Foundation North put in place to protect the creative copyright/IP of the applicants to
this fund?
2-If they have why was it not explicitly mentioned to the applicants by Foundation North (that their
copyright/IP wil  be protected), on their website and by the outreach team contracted to answer
questions?
3-What process was put in place to ensure the outreach team and the assessors respect the
copyright/IP of the applicants?
4-Did the outreach team read all the applications and did they sit at the decision making table?
5-What process was put in place to manage conflict of interest of the outreach team with any
applications/applicants?
6-What has Foundation North done to inform and educate the applicants, the outreach team and the
assessors about creative copyright and IP to ensure openness and transparency in the funding
process?
While Creative New Zealand holds general information related to the Fund, we do not hold the 
information to respond to your specific questions. As a result, we are needing to refuse your request 
for information under section 18(g) where the information requested is not held by the department 
and we have no grounds for believing it is held by another department. We note that Foundation 
North is not subject to the Act. 
As a result, we have consulted with Foundation North who have provided us with answers to your 
questions. Please see these enclosed. 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
