Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 request dated 7 March 2023. Your 
questions are listed below, followed by an answer for each. 
Please will the New Zealand Police confirm which make/model of Tazer is 
currently in use by officers on duty. 

A list of approved devices and accessories can be found in the publicly available TASER 
(Conducted Electrical Weapons) chapter of Police Instructions1. 
At what point does the Tazer being used by the officer start recording video 
footage of the incident?  It this immediately it is drawn from its case or only once 
the officer puts his finger on the trigger and paints someone or at some other 
point 

The TASER HD camera currently in use by Police is turned on when an operator arms 
the TASER. However, due to the nature of the technology, the camera can take up to two 
seconds from when it is turned on to begin recording video and audio.
