Thank you for your email of 7 March 2023 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
Can you please provide a summary of all commercial vehicle permits issued to vehicles with a 
gross weight of over 50 tonnes issued by year for the last 10 years. 
 
Can you please sum these permits by weight bands, namely 50-55 tonnes, 55-60 tonnes and 
over 60 tonnes. 
 
Can you also please provide details of which routes these permits cover. 
 
The information you have requested is not stored centrally or in a readily available format. We 
consider that collating this information would amount to substantial collation and research and would 
unreasonably interfere in Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency’s operations. Therefore, I am refusing 
your request under section 18(f) of the Act. 
 
However, to provide reasonable assistance to you, we are able to provide the below table outlining 
how many Higher Mass Permits were issued between 2015 and 2022.
